I was shocked when my surgeon announced that I needed my right hip replaced pretty well immediately and that the other one would need to be done within a few years.

I turned to the web for information.  After a lot of searching I did find some of the information I wanted but it was hard work and often the rewards were insufficient and so the hunt would begin again.

During the time I spent recovering at home I started to put together a one stop information site for all things related to hip replacements.  A site firmly focused on what the patient would want to know.  Its called (rather unimaginatively I know) www.hip-replacement-and-recovery.com.

My aim is for the site to be totally patient focused with lots of contributions both from experts and visitors.  So do join in!

(I learned last week that I needed a total knee replacement - mmm perhaps I'll have to rename the site!)
