My passion was born within me as I fought and won my battle with Stage III NHL in 2002. My hope rose with purpose beyond circumstances, when suddenly I realized I was given an assignment rather than a sentence of despair. It was my husband of 27 years who profoundly reacted to my diagnosis with the words of grace and resolve. "Norma, for the Lord to allow this to happen, something great is going to become of it." Words can be apples of gold when spoken in a timely manner.
From that day forward I woke with a sense of purpose and knew that whatever the outcome of my cancer, I purposed to make it not my own battle but the Lords.
Due to my steriod treatments combined with the chemo, my hours of creativity was when the rest of my world was in slumber. Solitude became my friend along with the shopping network. Why my creativity was heightened, I don't know but I could hardly wait for the sun to rise so I could awake my husband with grand ideas and plans of pupose. Poor guy, he must have been on a roller coaster of emotions as well.
What was born out of this all, is a collection of stories and an invitation for others to journal their journey of illness with me. I pray it will be a source of inspiration, laughter and tears. A resource to gather memories for themselves or their loved ones for generations to come.
