I started my career life in the computer field, graduating from the largest ever class in that major in 1982. I did well, learned a lot, but never really felt comfortable or completely connected to what I was doing. I married & we raised 2 children, now 20 and 17. The elder is studying computer science in college, and the younger is a Senior in high school contemplating a career in cultural anthropology.
I reached a moment when I had to decide what to do next, now that full-time mother was taking less time and being a part-time computer and business consultant was no longer feasible, since the industry was just changing to fast to keep up without spending all my waking hours immersed in continuing education. I chose massage therapy for many reasons, and have been very happy with the results.
I earned my NYS license and National Certification in 2005 and began working for my massage therapist in his office and later the new wellness spa. I learned a lot about the business and what it takes to be successful, and in January 2009, I signed a lease in a multi-discipline clinic and moved into my own practice space. I have expanded my training to include CranioSacral therapy, lymphatic drainage therapy, Hot Stone massage, Reiki, and now Orthopedic Massage.
With each new therapy, I feel I am learning a different dialect of body language which enables me to work more effectively to enhance the wellness of people in my care. I love helping people feel better, and watching as my new understanding of health care brings better wellness and an enhanced quality of life to myself and my family as well.
