Hello. My name is Debby Cabreros and I have been a massage therapist for four years. My decision to become a massage therapist was a spontaneous one. A friend told me about a massage school clinic where you could get a massage for $35. She gave me the name and I immediately started searching online. I was looking at their website wanting to make an appointment, but instead signed up for their orientation. It was a one-on-one orientation and when it is was finished, I signed up for their next class. From there, my massage journey began.
In October of 2004, I started the 720-hour comprehensive program at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA. Their program consisted of lecture hours and hands-on training as well as externship and clinic hours. I learned both Western and Eastern modalities which I continue to use in my practice today.
Since my graduation in 2005, I have worked in multiple atmospheres. I started off in a Sacramento day spa then decided to move to a massage clinic in Roseville. The long drive started to get to me so I looked for a place closer to home. I found another massage clinic but this time it was located in Manteca. It was a great place to learn and find out the business aspect of it; I was able to establish connections with other massage therapists. Shortly after, the owner decided to close it down and run it for herself. I had the opportunity to follow her, but I decided to find a place in my hometown; it was a hard decision for me to make. I spent the next year and a half at a local day spa. I started off as the receptionist and ended up being the veteran Massage Therapist. Within the year and a half of being there, I saw therapists and estheticians come and go; it had a high turnover rate. Finally, my eczema was taking a toll on my hands so I decided to leave. About a week later, the owner decided to close up shop. I knew that I wanted to still give massages but massage oil was not the product to use. An opportunity arised and I started my business in the All About Health Center in Stockton, CA.
My business in the All About Health Center has always been a dream of mine since massage school. The ideal atmosphere was to rent a room within a chiropractor's office or wellness center. All About Health Center is a wellness center focusing on health, wellness, and prevention. Our center consists of two chiropractors, a nutritional counselor, an esthetician, and another massage therapist with room for growth. Now that I am on my own, I have more drive and determination for success within the massage industry. I no longer use massage oil only for Hot Stone massages; I have decided to use massage lotion or creme. Since using massage lotion and/or creme, I have been able to keep my eczema to a minimum even nonexistent. With my new venture, I have the ability to offer more modalities and services to my clients. My approach to massage is on a therapeutic level. Each session is catered to the client's individual needs. After each session, I recommend self-care options to try at home or at work. Massage is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.
I am so excited about running my massage practice and I am looking forward to working/networking with other health professionals or those interested in health, wellness, and prevention.
