“When a cat falls out of a tree, it lets go of itself, becomes completely relaxed, and lands lightly on the ground. If the cat made up its mind that it didn’t want to fall, it would become tense and rigid and would just be a bag of broken bones upon landing. In the same way, it is the philosophy of the Tao that we are all falling out of a tree, at every moment of our lives. As a matter of fact, the moment we were born we were kicked off a precipice and we are falling—and there is nothing we can do to stop it. So, instead of living in a state of constant tension and clinging to all sorts of things that are actually falling with us because the whole world is impermanent, be like a cat. Don’t resist it.” ALAN WATTS

Dear One,

Happy Mid-Summer! There’s a New Moon today in early Leo, kicking off our bi-annual Eclipse season that culminates on August 23 with a Total Eclipse of the Sun in late Leo.

Between now and September 28, when Transformational Pluto stations direct, there may be some rather extreme and potentially volatile events playing out on the world stage. And this nine-week period is just the beginning, as it’s only setting up the themes of life-on-earth changes of epic proportions that will be with us for the foreseeable future.

Our best hope is to learn to cultivate a taste for being strapped into the ultimate rollercoaster ride of this or perhaps any incarnation to date, while simultaneously witnessing and enjoying the ride of what is called Leela, or cosmic play, in the Vedic tradition. For more on this: LEELA

Starting on August 3, when Trickster of Awakening Uranus stations retrograde at the penultimate (i.e., 29th degree) of combustible Aries, all bets are off as to what unpredictable events—whether human-made or nature-made or a mixture of the two—will be exploding on the screens of CNN.

Whenever Uranus stations (twice a year) or changes its astrological sign (every 7-9 years), volatile energies are generated which are meant to shake us up to wake us up as nothing lesser could. And, this August, we’re in for a doozy of wake-up calls.

In recent history, other Uranian stations and sign changes have brought: the tsunami in southeast Asia, the earthquake and nuclear meltdown aftermath in Japan, the Icelandic volcano eruption—bringing all air travel in Europe to a standstill for almost a week—and, during the same week, the Gulf oil rig explosion and subsequent oil spill, to name just a few.

For much more: Embracing the Unexpected: Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Uranus (but were afraid to ask)

Oh, but I’m just getting started! The Uranus station on August 3 is amped up in intensity by the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius just three days later. But the biggest event of the Summer by far is the total Eclipse of the Sun on August 21. Not only will it be visible over many parts of the United States—a rare occurrence in itself—but so will Trump’s meltdown, as the eclipse degree in Leo is on Trump’s Ascendant and Mars, triggering something going off or exploding—I will predict—in his head, as all his secrets start leaking out over the next six months.

Bi-annual Eclipses always ratchet up the intensity and bring out things that have been hidden, setting up the tones and themes for the next six months and beyond. But this Eclipse season is off the charts, as it’s sandwiched between the Uranus and Pluto stations, in addition to Saturn’s direct station on August 25, which will help bring some more forward-moving, productive energy into the mix.

It’s important to remember that when outer planets move through their final few degrees and change sign, as Uranus will be moving into Taurus on May 16, 2018, and Saturn will be moving into Capricorn on December 19, 2017, the whole cycle of their transits, through Aries and Sagittarius respectively, culminate with a big bang like the last flick of the tail of a spiraling snake of evolutionary energy smacking us in the heads.

So, what do we do with all this mishegas, (i.e., craziness in Yiddish)? Well, that’s one reason I began this newsletter with the Alan Watts quote, which may be one of my favorites of all time as it epitomizes the philosophy of going with the Flow (i.e., the Tao) which I aspire to live by on a daily basis. Especially now, in the current geopolitical climate, being “like a cat” is spiritual pragmatism at its highest.

We always have a choice of whether to: fight a riptide, take other’s “stuff” projected at us personally or resist surrendering fully to the Flow of Life especially when it’s knocking us down. Or, we can hold the faith that whatever is pushing at us is a form of spiritual resistance training—to make us stronger and more flexible—AND that the Flow will always carry us in perfect time to the other shore.

Since we do live in such an insecure, ephemeral plane, it helps if we can embrace the concept that physical death is absolutely safe, as we get to drop our bodies without losing our higher Minds or consciousness. This is as reassuring as it gets, in my book. And holding this “knowing” allows us to get on with the karmic healing and soul assignments we took incarnation for, while simultaneously enjoying the entire Earth game from the witnessing perspective.

Although I’ve sojourned on many planes of consciousness and love them all, I still consider the Earth plane the best show in the Universe, with its panorama of 3-D delights and wonders which are only available here: the physical senses, the full range of the human emotional repertoire, and nature and human nature in all its wild diversity.

In my New Year’s newsletter, 2017 COMING ATTRACTIONS: “Greatest Hits of the Kali Yuga (Darkest Age),” I wrote at length about what is happening on the planet and why and how to cope with it all. Synchronistically, another way to look at this cycle of the evolution of consciousness is from the Toltec/Mayan traditions.

According to Sergio Mangana, a Toltec shaman, the time between 2012 and 2021 is considered a transitional period between the Age of the Fifth Sun and the Age of the Sixth Sun. The Fifth Sun was a "Sun of Light," where clarity, reason, the state of waking consciousness were predominant. As we move into the Sixth Sun, we are transitioning to a "Sun of Darkness," where the dream world, the Psyche, takes precedence.

This means that our experience of reality is becoming, in intensifying degrees, more dreamlike, trippy and psychically flexible in a very tangible way (with hallucinogens no longer required:)). Have you been noticing this psychedelic quality?

All of the above is confirmed by scientists who are registering massive, unpredictable changes in the Sun's activity as described in this current article in Newsweek:

Solar Minimum: The Sun Is Getting Quieter and Is Displaying Some Very Weird Behavior

So, in addition to all the Quickening symptoms I wrote about in my last newsletter and newsflash, we may also be finding ourselves tripping out on reality as it is becoming more malleable to the power of our mind and imagination.

Therefore, it might be a good time to review the Seth books, especially The Nature of Personal Reality, to make the most of this time to more quickly manifest our dreams, as reality is becoming more psychically pliable in a very 3-D, corporeal way. (If you’re not familiar with the Seth books, a good introductory overview is: A Seth Reader.)

In closing, by maintaining the witnessing perspective, we can continuously evolve and move higher on the spiritual mental health continuum of inner peace and Unity consciousness, no matter how tumultuous external circumstances become on planet Earth. From the eternal stance of our souls, we will come to know unequivocally with our full heart/mind these key concepts:

1. Everything is always happening perfectly in the Divine plan.

2. All structures—internal and external—need to cyclically break down and fall apart before there can be a transformational rebirth from the ashes.

3. Inner stability can only be cultivated and maintained through some form of daily spiritual practices.

4. Setting an emotional tone of equanimity in the Flow affects our personal reality and beyond with the ripple effect.

With divine orderly chaos reigning supreme as the new normal, I’m reminded of a quote by Ram Dass: “Wise beings can be peaceful in the midst of chaos, experiencing delight in the changing play of forms.” So, I’m wishing us all some of that!

While we may have no more illusions of control over external events and our personal and racial karma unfolding, we do have absolute control over appreciating everything we have to be grateful for in our Life, which means maintaining a glass half-full perspective under all conditions. And especially this season, to make time to enjoy being out in nature and fully present with loved ones, especially ourselves.

May all our glasses be overflowing with Joy in Being . . . in the Flow, of course!
