Many people consider that infertility is mostly concerned with female, but the role of male partner is equally as important. This general thinking is now shifting a bit, and more people are now aware that infertility is not just a female problem. Normally, about 40 percent of infertility problems are arising due to the female partner and about 40 percent are related to male partner. Apart from this, 10 percent are due to a combination of both female and male partners and for the remaining 10 percent causes of infertility is unknown. Below are some relatively easy tips that men can take to improve their fertility:
• Improve diet and Lifestyle
The best advice for improving male fertility is the same as for any other male who is willing to live a healthier lifestyle. Having plenty of fresh fruits, whole grains, vegetables and legumes can improve your fertility. The antioxidants and linolenic acid found in many food items can improve male fertility; especially processed meats can increase sperm count and its motility.
• Maintaining a healthy body weight
Most of people are not fully aware that having excess body weight can have a negative effect on overall individual health. Men having over body weight have high levels of health risks, like risk of heart disease, diabetes and other serious other health conditions. Overweight or obese BMI directly affect the quantity and quality and your sperm, which further results to fertility problems in most of men. Your overweight can also have a negative effect on your child’s DNA, and your child likely to have a high BMI themselves. The best way to maintain a healthy BMI is to consume healthy diet and become physically active.
• Avoid Alcohol and Smoking
Excessively consumption of alcohol can affect the quality of sperm. Evidence shows that drinking alcohol above recommended levels regularly can cause problems with fertility for both men and women. The recommended limit is for alcohol consumption is 14 units week. People who drink 14 or more units per week should invite infertility risks. Drinking too much alcohol can cause, low sperm quality and quantity, loss of interest in sex, lower sperm quality and quantity and much more similar infertility risks. These negative effects can be reversed if you immediately stop consumption of too much alcohol.
Smoking also can increase fertility problems in men. Smoking can cause a lower sperm count, reduce the quality of sperm, affect the sperm’s motility and lower down the erectile function.
• Avoid Stress Level
High stress level can also affect your relationship and lower your or your partner’s sex interest. This may also reduce how often you have sex with your partner. Long lasting stress can also limit sperm production. If you have been trying to conceive a baby for a long time, it can be very stressful for both of you.It is recommended that you and your partner should have enough time to relax.
Exercise regularly
Regular exercise can improve fertility by controlling body weight and reducing stress level.
