Are you looking for a specific tarot deck that you want to speak to you? Perhaps you are looking for a psychic or a tarot reader to help you with your troubles, but you would like a specific tarot deck for your needs. For many women, I have found that the typical Ryder-Waite deck does not speak to them the way another deck can. Decks such as the Ator and the Thoth deck each have their own reasons for usage, but one deck that has always spoken to me, as well as any women I perform readings for, is The Goddess Tarot. Created by Kris Waldherr, the artwork of the Goddess Tarot, as well as the interpretations of each of the Major and Minor Arcana, speaks to all in a feminine sense that has never been surpassed by any other deck.

One of the most striking and noticeable differences between the Goddess Tarot deck and other Ryder-Waite –based decks is in the Major Arcana. Instead of the typical Fool, Lovers, or Wheel of Fortune Cards, Goddesses of all major world religions have been artfully crafted and used in their stead. For the lovers, Venus is draped in ruby red fabric and invites you, the lover, to seek out her advice. The goddess Isis represents the magic of the universe, and offers you help with maternal matters.

But why is this so interesting and different? By placing a multitude of goddesses into the deck instead of the classic Arcana, the readings you will receive are differently layered and can give you a great deal of information that you would not normally receive in a tarot reading. Also, the goddesses tend to represent their element or aspect in a much truer sense than the classic Ryder-Waite. For example, the “death” card, typically known as a terrifying card for those not familiar with tarot, is now represented by the Japanese Goddess Ukemochi. Ukemochi’s myth states that after her death, she becomes a source of food for starving humanity, representing true transformation, which is the traditional meaning of the death card.

The Major and Minor arcana are just as tightly woven together as any other tarot deck, and therefore ensure that each suit relates to a goddess and gives you the opportunity to really feel connected to the deck. For anyone out there seeking a truly symbiotic relationship with a tarot deck, I highly recommend the Goddess tarot deck.
