I’m grateful for this day. I’ve found that investing time appreciating who and where I am in life (and people!) helps me grow.

Simple gratitude. It works.

Yes, I want more. I want to be more; I want to have more.

Yes, I work at my own self improvement consistently, persistently and with delight.

Yet it’s the gratitude in my life that makes all the difference.

In happiness. Laughter! In taking charge of my life, managing stress, boosting energy, and in working toward new successes.

In patience. In saying NO to fear and YES to moving forward. In results! In the clarity that prioritizing gives me as I observe what I’m more grateful for in this moment.

It’s okay to want more.

And the stealthy strategy to getting more is, at the same time, to appreciate and to be totally satisfied with who and where I am in life now.

I don’t need more, and I’m even grateful for the drive that I do want more and that I’m keenly interested in the work it takes to get more.

You see, I’ve had what the world considers success pulled out from under me by disasters. Health challenges and all that goes with them when health challenges go on too long.

So, I’ve got the gift of perspective!

I am blessed to know the path that I need to follow in the getting of more, in the secrets to success.

And I’m fully content as I appreciate all that my life is right now. I’m happy.

I start with gratitude!

Gratitude is part of my morning routine. Gratitude is part of my evening routine.

Being grateful flows through my life. From morning to evening; from evening to morning.

Being grateful matters.

I’ve found ways to incorporate gratitude throughout my day and I’ve found that doing so helps me in all things, including my own personal growth.

When I spend time appreciating all that I have, all that I am, and the people in my life, I grow.

Let’s look at self improvement from a lens of gratitude.

Because gratitude is the secret to self improvement.

It’s good to review all that I have in my life. Not in rote ways – in ways that fit the spur of the moment when I’m doing so. It feels good. It helps me grow in many ways, including whetting my appetite for the DOING what I need to do.

Yes, it’s a stealthy strategy in part because it lifts me up. It’s also useful in the practical day to day way that it gets me into action mode.

When I remember specific things, one at a time, with thanksgiving and with an attitude of gratitude, that attitude changes me in positive ways throughout each day.

I feel better about myself.

I appreciate me. I appreciate who and what I’ve got in my life now.

I recognize I’m totally satisfied with right now.

Being satisfied is part of the process. That’s a starting point for both happiness and growth.

I invite you to make gratitude a part of who you are, right here, right now.

Because being grateful for who you are as a person, for you, yourself, makes a difference in your life. Praise for who you are, right here and now, is a good way of beginning to express gratitude.

Your appreciation of things about who you are helps you in being content with who you are. Contentment matters.

Yes, it’s okay to want more for yourself. But when you feel compassion for yourself and allow yourself to be grateful for being exactly who you are right now in this moment you are opening yourself more fully to self improvement.

Your happiness and growth follows with the actions you’ll be inspired to take. Inspiration from gratitude guides you in ways that make taking action easier, too.

You have people in your life who matter to you, right? Start by spending some time each day remembering the people in your life with gratitude.

When you’re ready for a bigger step?

There’s another step you can take with people. You can thank them! You can thank people simply by smiling. Yet there are many more ways as well.

As you put together tiny bits of praise in your times remembering people, you can also begin to share some of this praise. Take real but small action steps.

Whether in personal conversation, a quick voice mail, text, email or other ways, giving your thankfulness into the people of your life will naturally guide you into using this stealthy strategy to successful self improvement.

How?

Your actions spurred by gratitude will lead to more actions throughout your day that help you to grow.

I encourage you to spend time each day being grateful for what you have right now, for who you are and for the people in your life. Express your gratitude to yourself and to others in tiny specific ways. You’ll discover for yourself, as I have, that gratitude is the secret to life – and that being grateful is a solid stealthy strategy to successful self improvement.
