Ingredients:

• Chicken- Half or 1 Kg
• Rice – 1Kg
• Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
• Garlic and Ginger Paste- 2 Tablespoons
• Salt- to taste
• Chopped Onions- 3
• Chopped Tomatoes- 6
• Yogurt- 1 cup
• White cumin- 1 teaspoon
• Turmeric- 1 teaspoon
• Red chilli pepper- two tablespoons
• Crushed Coriander – 1 table spoon
• Green chillies- 6
• Mint – cut into small pieces- half a cup
• Food color- yellow- a pinch
• Milk- one cup
Cooking oil- one cup
• Kewra Essence- Few drops

Preparation:

• Add cooking oil to a cooking pot and heat it for five minutes and then add Garam Masla (a mixture of spices) into it and fry it for 2 minutes, and add chopped onions, ginger garlic paste and cumin and cook for two to three minutes.

• Add chopped tomatoes and cook it until tomatoes are converted into a paste form.

• Add chicken, salt, red chilli pepper, crushed coriander, garam masala, green chilli peppers, green coriander/parsley, mint and yogurt.

• Cook for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.

• Keep the boiled rice separately at this stage.

• Take a separate cooking pot and add a layer of oil in the end. Then spread the chicken in one layer at the bottom, and spread a layer of rice on top, add two-three layers of chicken and rice like this and add food color, kewra essence and milk on top of the rice and keep the rice on steam for 15-20 minutes. For this step cover the cooking pot with a cloth and then put the lid on the pot and let the pot stay on slow heat for 15-20 minutes.
