Many people equate wealth, abundance, and prosperity with having lots of money. However, while finances can be a manifestation of those things, it is not the all in all. Webster defines these elements of consciousness as:
Wealth – “Abundance of possessions or resources.” Although finances are certainly considered as possessions and resources by those who have, finances are not specifically mentioned in the definition. Abundant possessions can also be family, friends, love, peace, and joy as well as material items. It’s a matter of perspective, how you perceive your situation. Abundant resources can include online information and the expertise, knowledge, and support available within such communities as prayer lines, coaching, and churches.
Abundance – “An ample or overflowing quantity” of those possessions and resources that are identified as wealth.
Prosperity – “The condition of being successful or thriving.” That conditioning must begin in the mind before it can translate into a physical manifestation, especially if it is to be maintained. There are many stories of people who have gotten rich suddenly but ended up broker than when they started because they had not conditioned themselves to manage effectively what they acquired.
The following three points are offered to assist in developing and or maintaining a consciousness of wealth, abundance, and prosperity.
1. Present yourself in excellence and service to others, using what you have and are passionate about. Identify and develop your passion in a way that adds value to others and offer it for a money energy exchange.
Proverbs 8:16 tells us that “A gift [fee or present] opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.” Know that you are the gift and already have everything you need.
(Ephesians 3:20)“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
2. Shift your mind off of money and focus on faith in what God says and is calling you to do. He will show you the way and make provisions when you seek Him first. Begin to count your blessings and be grateful for what you have instead of thinking in terms of lack. When I shared about my decision to resign from my corporate writing job to pursue ministry fulltime, some people responded with, "How are you going to live" and "Will you be able to eat".
However, Matthew 6:25-34 says 25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
(Philippians 4:19)“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
(Proverbs 3:5-6) 5“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
3. Study your holy word or sacred text. Get quiet and still before God, listen for instruction, and be obedient to what you hear. Take action, put feet under your dreams and walk it out. T.D. Jakes says, “It will work if you work it”.
(Joshua 1:8) 8“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
(Deuteronomy 8:18) 18“But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.”
In developing a consciousness of wealth, abundance and prosperity, remember to: reevaluate your perspective about your possessions and resources; cultivate and maintain an attitude of gratitude for what you do have; and condition your mind to recognize that you are successful and have wealth, abundance, and prosperity now. Present yourself in excellence and service to others, you are a valuable gift worthy of your wages and are fully equipped. Focus on God and stand in faith, believing He will provide. Study your holy book, meditate and listen for instructions, and then take action.
