To Help People Is A Very Nice Thought Indeed!
These days, instead of worrying about other people’s problems, generally one is busy worrying about earning more and more money, and fulfilling one’s own selfish interests. One does not realize that if he serves others, he is going to benefit for sure anyways, because by serving others, one binds enormous good karma. And until one attains liberation, good karma functions as one’s friend!
The Law Of Nature
A common man earns money, eats, drinks and enjoys luxuries; yet he is found worrying all the time! Therefore, Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan cautions, ‘What is the point of human life that goes to waste? Having been born a human, what should you do to attain the goal of a human life? If you want worldly happiness, you should give whatever you have to others.” You can expect happiness only if you make others happy - this is the law of Nature!
What Is The Bigger Purpose Of This Human Life?
Param Pujya Dadashri explains, “It is to break this bondage of life after life. This human life is for attaining ultimate liberation from the bondage of karma. It is for the purpose of acquiring Self-Realization. And if one does not get the opportunity to attain the knowledge of Self-realization, then he should live for others. In doing so, he will bind only merit karma and, therefore, there remins no scope for any suffering later.”
Hence, do try to be of service to others as much as you can, but also look forward to acquiring Self-Realization as soon as you can!
Service To Others Means You Use Your Mind, Your Speech And Your Actions For Others
One serves others through the medium of the mind, speech and body. So, give advice to people, motivate them, help them and support them through whichever medium you can. If you have the required knowledge and skill to support people who are battling with loneliness and depression, you must use it to explain things to people to alleviate their misery.
How Do You Reach Out To People And Convey To Them That You Can Help?
Param Pujya Dadashri specifies, “More important than a person’s external actions of helping others is his pure and noble internal intention to help. This intention should always be present.”
This inner intent of yours itself will bring results. Or else, we, in ourselves, cannot do anything. The doing part is under the control of another entity i.e. the Nature, which naturally brings together the required circumstances at the opportune time, to get any work done. So, all you have to do is make sure that you have a constant internal intent to reach out to people and help them. When you do the intent, then there will be a consequent result. You shall automatically get the opportunity to serve through some or the other medium. Such is the science of inner intention!
Pure Service Is The Service Rendered Without The Ego Of Doership
The service that you intend doing currently is associated with bondage (of good karma) because of your belief, ‘I am doing it.’ No doubt, it is a meritorious service; but a shackle of gold is after all a shackle; it binds!
The true service is one where a person does not have even the slightest belief of, ‘I am doing a service to the society.’ However, this belief leaves only after Self-Realization. For until then, Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan lovingly advises, “One should not have the ego of, ‘I am serving society.’ Yet, when you do something good, the ego will appear. So you should ask for forgiveness from whichever God you believe in, for having the ego even though you do not want it. Can you do that?”
Moreover, at the moment, what you experience for others is sympathy. That sympathy will always cause you pain because it torments you with what you imagine the other person must be feeling. After Self-realization, you will not feel pain upon seeing the misery of others, rather you will remain compassionate and their suffering will lessen.
First Attain Self-Realization With Direct Grace of Akram Gnani!!!
Because of your nature, you will continue to serve others even after having received Self-Realization. But at that point, you will want to help people with the subtle intention of the salvation of the world working behind it. The intent for salvation of the world is extremely subtle and so are its vibrations. And that service will be pure service, since it would be without the ego of doership!
You do not want to sit in doership, do you?! Because where there is doership, there is ego. And ego is the root cause of all miseries. Ego is born out of ignorance of ‘who am I?’ And thus ego leaves when we attain the real knowledge of ‘who am I?’ This is called Self-Realization!
In today’s age, we have Akram Vignan where the Gnani Purush, the Enlightened One, with his special divine spiritual powers, directly graces us with Self-Realization by giving us the right vision and the right knowledge of the Self. Thereafter, it flourishes on its own. And following Gnani’s words, we learn the right way to serve people, as explained above.
So, per me, you should look forward to meeting Gnani, the Enlightened One, and with his grace, attain Self-Realization. Rest all will be taken care of automatically... Wishing you goodluck
Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization
