If you want to have a healthier, happier, and more meaningful existence, there are many great things that you can do to improve the quality of your life, and to also improve the world in which we live! These may seem like "little things," but if more people did more things such as these, we can all contribute a "little something" towards making the world a better place, and we can each improve our lives along the way!
There is not anything here that is ground-breaking or amazingly cutting-edge, and many of these precepts have been around for many centuries, if not longer! As Lao-tzu said 2,500 years ago, "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step!"
So, take that first step towards improving your life, and here are some tidbits of wisdom and sound advice:
Make story time special for kids.
Compassion is based on knowing that all human beings have a desire to be happy and to avoid pain and suffering.
Listen to your favorite music when doing work.
Drink more water, get more exercise, and sleep when you need to.
Let go of anger, avoid jealousy and envy.
Be kind to everyone, even strangers.
Don't ever take your family and friends for granted.
Give the gift of good cheer to others.
Be more open-minded.
Spread Good Karma.
Do random acts of kindness.
Give your spouse flowers for no reason in particular.
Consume less alcohol and caffeine, or better yet; none at all.
Read more books, and buy books as gifts for others, especially for children.
Do some volunteer work, and/or give some money to charity.
Take time each day for some prayer or meditation.
When you like someone, tell them that you do.
If you have something to say that is unkind, then keep it to yourself and don't say it.
These may sould like little things, and individually they may be, but as Michelangelo told us, "Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle."
Many Blessings!
