Tipu Sultan Fort
This fort is located in the crowded market area of the city and this fort is an artistic extravaganza which one should not miss. This fort was originally built in Kempegowda in the year 1537. The first construction was made from mud bricks. Then later it was extended and modified Haider Ali who was the father of Tipu Sultan. His son later completed the construction of the fort in the year 1791. This fort has a lot of pillars, balconies and carved arches. There is an art gallery inside it which has a collection of photos, sculptures and historical paintings.
Lal Bagh Botanical Gardens
This garden was also built by Haider Ali and then later modified by his son Tipu Sultan. There is a glass house inside the garden and it resembles the London Crystal Palace. This garden spreads over the land of 240 acres and it houses more than 1800 species of herbs, trees and plants. There is also a lawn clock present there which is the first lawn clock in India. If you are there in the month of January or August then you can see the biannual flower show.
Bangalore Palace
This palace was constructed in the year 1884 by Chamaraja Wodeyar because he got inspired by the Windsor Castle of England. This is a Tudor style construction and it has wood carvings, Gothic windows and turrets. This is a very stunning architecture. This palace covers an area of 430 acre and it has beautiful garden surrounding it. Also a part of it has been turned into a place where concerts and exhibitions are conducted.
Nandi Hills
If one wants some touch of nature then this is the place to visit. This one is located about 60 kilometres away from Bangalore. From Nandi hills, two rivers with names Arkavathi and Palar originates. At the top of the hill there is a temple with the same name; Nandi temple and this is situated at 1478 metres above the sea level. One can trek till the top and people do this mainly on the weekends.
Cubbon Park
This park covers an area of 300 acres. This park was built by the then chief engineer of Mysore and his name was Richar Sankey. This is a huge green park and lawns. Here one can come for a walk or for jogging. This is a paradise and a place where one can inhale a lot of oxygen within the polluted city.
St. Mary’s Basilica Bengaluru
This is the oldest church in the city and it was formed in the 17th century. This is the sixth oldest church in India and the structure is worth seeing.
