Are all the original ideas taken ?

Someone once told me that the only original idea ever had, was when Man invented the Wheel.  Since then every single idea has been an addition to the same idea or a different version of the same idea.  I really don’t know if thats true or not, but when I started to develop my passive online income stream.  It quickly became obvious that all the best original ideas were taken.

It didn’t matter what niche I thought of, it seemed that there was already a great blog in that niche, that was hugely successful and had thousands of vistors, earning mega bucks.

If you just think about the how to make money online niche, there are hundreds of online blogs all catering to that one narrow idea or niche, think Smart Passive Income, ThinkTraffic or Adsenseflippers,  as well as the tons of books on that subject that are out there.  Now here’s the interesting thing to consider, if there are so many Blogs on the one topic,  what makes one Blog successful and others fail ? , why are they able to make money on-line when others don’t, in a particular niche ?

Well, If you are wanting to start out in the online passive income stream and you think you have a great idea for a niche website, and you do a little research and find dozens of similar sites, it can get easy to get discouraged about your chances of being successful.

Don’t give up.  If you think about two of the major fast food outlets, McDonalds and Hungry Jacks, they seem to establish themselves almost next door to each other, and they both offer a Hamburger as their main product.  Yet they are both succesful businesses, both offer a completly different experiences whilst offering the same core product.

McDonalds and Hungry Jacks are a good example to think about then your are starting out in the online market.  The questions you should be asking yourself, then become very different  :–

· Can you find a place in the market where you can get you voice heard, in that niche ?

· Do you have a different view on the same topic ?

·Can you bring anything unique to your business ?

· Why will people want to listen to what you say ?

·How transparent and honest are you really ?

·How will you establish your Web property so it stands out from the rest ?

Something I struggled with for a while, was finding my own feet.  For example this blog started as how to make money online via affiliate marketing.  Guess what ! there are hundreds of blogs out there are all providing information on exactly the same topic, some of these blogs have been in place for years and most likely doing it better than I ever could.  The three examples I gave above are all hugely successful and are growing almost on a daily basis.  I had to be honest with myself, I knew I would neverbe able to provide anything better or different then what these successful guys are already doing.

So I thought about

·What I could do differently ?

· How I would have a unique voice in a saturated market

For me the answer was simple.  I decided to Blog about my own past experiences, and what I am actually doing to grow my passive income right now, the tools I use, the failures I have.  It took a huge shift in my mindest to refocus my efforts.  But the benefits I have gained out of approaching it from a different angle are fantastic :-

·It  provides me with a way, to make myself accountable

·If I am not successful why would anyone want to listen to me anyway

·I have given myself a unique postion on  the making money online niche , where many successful blogs are already established. (remains to be seen if I have anywhere near their level of success)

What I have found is with the amazing amount of on-line information out there, on a very broad range of topics, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with trying to make a little room in a very crowded market, but there are plenty of things you can do to improve your chances and make a difference.

I wrote previously about how I needed to change my strategy, otherwise I was pretty much at the place where I wanted to give up trying to make an income from being online.  That was a whole 6 months after I started,  now I am little stubbon at times, I don’t like to admit I can’t do something, so I tend to keep at it until I find away that works.

These are some of the questions and actions I asked myself, when I sat down to revisit my strategy :-

·I looked at what the opposition  is doing and looked for obvious holes

·Then I worked out how I could fill those holes

·Be passionate about what I do.

·Everyone has a level of expertise on one topic. So start there as you develop your business you can always expand into other areas. Remember every building starts out with a strong foundation

·Get your product / website out there as much as you can

·Be everywhere as Pat Flynn would say.

As the saying goes “build a better mouse trap”, or as the Kevin Costner movie Field of dreams theme was, BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.

All the orginal ideas are taken, maybe, but think outside the box, you might suprise yourself in what you can acheive. Ways to increase income . Try it and see waht you can achieve.
