I work with a number of coaching clients who are building other aspects of their lives besides the ones they're used to. The usual stuff: network marketing businesses, coaching practices, traditional businesses, etc.
Some of these amazing people have figured out they're in the wrong line of work. They're bored, they're underpaid, they don't like the environment in which they operate.
Some aren't in any line of work at all. Their backs are against the wall, mostly in the financial sense, but sometimes spiritually or in their relationships with others. "Figure out how you're going to contribute to this household or else..."
And then their are a few others who have experienced what Eric Butterworth called Divine Dissatisfaction.
On paper they look great. They make a good living, at least enough to get by. They have security, maybe they even enjoy what they do on a daily basis.
Problem is, they've outgrown it. Very often when you work for an agency or organization of one sort or another, they have a specific role for you to fill. Sometimes they'll ask your opinion about something or even give you an opportunity to do something different within their structure.
But organizations being what they are, their well being comes before yours as an individual. It's that way in any group...just take a look around the animal kingdom.
For us humans, who have this nasty habit (not really nasty) of wanting to grow and evolve, it can become a little tiresome.
Many of us plod along, trading the "music inside us" for security. We feel as if it's an either/or.
And of course it isn't. My (very unscientifc) research tells me that most people who start businesses, groups, enterprises of any kind outside their usual state of affairs are doing so less for the money (the money is nice too).
They do it for the music - the music inside them. They're unwilling to let it die.
Good chance if you're reading this now you're one of those intrepid souls.
So let me ask you...
What music are you hanging onto?
Have you found a way to express it...that genius/energy/God Force/choose your own description?
Is it part of a thought out plan?
Are you rolling it out little by little?
Are you going for broke...throwing down 100% with your dream?
No right or wrong answers to this one, folks. Only what's right for you.
BUT...
As a fellow outgrower, know that you have my undying respect, admiration and love.
Fraternally Yours,
Larry
