We live in a glorious time.
The world’s entire body of knowledge is easily accessible and readily available to anyone who cares. A mere 100 years ago, the information now available at your fingertips was reserved only for kings and scholars, for the rich and the titled. One generation ago, only credentialed journalists and university researchers could access information that can now be accessed by literally anyone with an interest and an Internet connection.
This new age of information provides all of us with infinite possibilities. The ability to discover, examine, experience, and connect with our passions has never been easier. The road to your self-improvement, Personal Development, and enlightened spirituality has never been more smoothly paved.
The Road To Discovery
One of the keys to improving your life is to be able access a feeling, thought, or action that gives you a sense of passion—something that inspires you. It doesn’t matter what it is. Here’s a powerful exercise: make a list of 100 things you love to do, without censoring yourself. Just write them down on a piece of paper. Pick your top three—those that excite you the most and those that actually give you energy when you think about them or say them out loud. Now, it’s time to take action.
Take those three items and enter them into a search engine on the Internet. You’ll be amazed at how much you’ll find out. If you have an interest in a career in one of your top choices, type in the word “career” along with each of your top three items. It’s so easy, you’ll be amazed. You can quickly and easily research a subject that is near and dear to your heart.
Still unclear about what your passion is? Type in “find your passion” in Google™, and watch what happens. You’ll be floored. Ten minutes later, you will have an answer. Congratulations—welcome to Discovery Road.
The Examination
Now that you’ve discovered your passion, or at least three items you’d love to do, it’s time for an examination of the content you might find. Some of it will resonate immediately. Part of it will prove irrelevant. Review each site and quickly decide if it relates to your passion or interest and if it resonates for you. If not, move on.
The Experience
The results of your discovery and examination should give you a sense of whether you are on the right path. The information available should align directly with your interest. The sites should create excitement as they match your interest. You should experience the content on the site and know immediately if it is worthy of further pursuit. Look for sites where you can see, hear, and read free content before making any purchase decisions. Make sure it’s a good fit. If it is, take the plunge, and get involved. Make use of the content in pursuit of your interest.
The Connection
One of the greatest ways to improve your life is to find others who are in pursuit of exactly the same interests. The Internet does that better than any tool available. If your interest or passion is self-esteem, you can find endless material on the subject. With a little discovery and experience you can drill down and find numerous Web sites that have groups discussing self-esteem.
Look for sites that have chat rooms or content groups so that you can share your interests with others. You’ll be humbled by how quickly your requests will be answered. Whatever your interest, whatever way you want to improve your life, you can drill down and make that connection—the one that could change your life.
