When we talk about the health and wellness of an individual, we refer to a wide spectrum that encompasses physical fitness, mental health, and inner peace, and not only the absence of diseases. True wellness stems from the interconnectedness of the mind and body, where both are at ease and in sync. Attaining such a state of wellbeing is the goal, but it’s certainly not the easiest thing to achieve in this fast-paced, digital-driven world that we live in.

At Yuvashakti Model School, a well-known CBSE school in Rohini, Delhi, we understand that being a teen in today’s time means quite a lot of stress, which makes it easy for illnesses and deleterious thoughts to find their way into your lives. So, with that in mind, we have brought to you a few ideas that will be beneficial in helping you take good care of your body, mind, and soul.

  1. Follow the mantra of regular exercise, good food, and sound sleep

The simple mantra that can affect your body, mind, and soul is to make regular exercise, good food, and sound sleep a part of your daily routine. Make it a point to get at least half an hour of physical exercise done every day, along with eight hours of sound sleep. And yes, we know that saying goodbye to your favorite burgers, pizzas, and all that fast food seem impossible, but the least you can do is to limit their consumption to once a month.

  1. Take some time out to read and reflect every day

Reading and reflecting on the things that you read about is a great way to not only relax your mind but also extend the boundaries of your mind. Besides, the books hold many of life’s answers that can help you in overcoming the current stress and difficulties that you might be feeling. So go ahead and get hold of some good reads for yourself.

  1. Be a part of a volunteer organization and take an interest in charity work

John Ray, the renowned English naturalist, had famously remarked, “The charitable give out at the door, and God puts in at the window.” So, you should certainly use your talents or voice to do some good in the world. We can assure you that by being a part of bringing a smile to a face and happiness to the deprived, you will gain unparalleled inner peace and harmony.

You can donate clothes to an orphanage for your birthday, volunteer at an animal shelter, or find some other idea that moves you. The point is to remember that no act of charity is small because it’s the thought behind it that counts, and this is something that will make your soul happy.

  1. Take some time out every day from the digital world

We are not asking you to take a complete digital detox for weeks or months. But, it’s certainly important to take some time out from the digital world every day, even if it is for an hour or two. All the free time that you get after your studies does not have to be spent in front of the laptop or the smartphone. We would suggest you to instead use that time to paint, dance, write, or simply have a heart-to-heart with your folks. We can assure you that once you start doing it, you will notice that it brings you a lot more calmness and peace than using all the time to stay online.

In parting, we would like to stress on the fact that taking care of yourself is a continuous process towards which you need to work for a lifetime. After all, you can only take care of the people who matter to you when you are in the pink of physical and mental health, right? So why not begin the journey with caring for yourself!
