A Quick Preamble:
I don’t care what anybody says or thinks…our world, our life, IS a beautiful thing, a GIFT that we should not/must not/ waste, squander or destroy because of all the negativity that’s either in our lives in some way or surrounding us – in abundance it would seem..!
There are, sadly, many people in the world that live for and live with negativity because of greed (mostly), avarice and selfishness…and because it’s simply “easier” to be unhappy, angry, spiteful or miserable i.e. NEGATIVE, than it is to be happy, grateful, forward-looking, friendly and content i.e. POSITIVE.
You don’t have to be drawn into the world of the negative thinkers…there are, fortunately, many people – like myself, that love the gift that’s been given and can always see life and the world for what it truly is – beautiful and full of inherent goodness.
And increasing your positive attitude while destroying the negativity caused by a hectic lifestyle and constant bad news from around the world, is really so very simple – it’s just a damned pity that more people (in low and high places) don’t think the same way..!
Cutting To The Chase:
It’s simple really…be grateful for what you have, what you are and what you believe you can achieve…giving and then receiving in kind is a whole lot more important than what others, very often strangers, think about you.
At various points of my life i have used all of the following 6 simple but powerful positivity boosters – and often more than one of them together, to tame many an ‘angry’ heart (or head) or to make someone – male, female, young and old alike…oh, and myself…to understand that there’s a lot more to life than what is making them (or me) miserably negative at that particular moment in time…
Booster # 01 – Adopt an “Attitude of Gratitude”
Stop belittling others or being jealous of others for what they have…STOP whining about what you DON’T have…start thinking and being grateful about what you DO have…i.e. your health, all your limbs, your eyesight, your hearing, an adoring soul mate, the gift of children, a roof over your head, a full stomach, true friends…etc.
I can go on and on…for example, what about “a full head of hair” – i’ve got practically zero of that these days, except for what tends to be sprouting out of my ears and nose at an astonishing pace, but hey, you know what, i’ve got great friends, a roof over my head, food on the table, good health and a beautiful family – as far as i’m concerned, hair or no hair, i’m truly blessed and have a hell of a lot to be grateful for.
Oh yeah, i’ve got a pretty cool sense of humour too in spite of some serious past sufferings of my own..!
Remember this – – There are many exceptionally-inspiring people out there (some of whom i have personally met and/or still know) that have life and health destroying afflictions or have undergone truly terrible or terrifying experiences – but they’ve gone forward and remained positive – they are grateful for what they have and just BEING..!!!
Booster # 02 – “Carpe Diem”
“Seize The Day” or “Seize The Moment”
You can do absolutely NOTHING about the past except learn from it and then work on today and the right here and now…so that any mistakes or regrets are not repeated and your life stays on a positive course.
The future is only as good as what you do or what you think in the here and now…the present…the future is not something you can accurately predict, so do what is right – even if it’s tough – and the future will take care of itself…that’ll be the next here-and-now..!
Meditation can be Sooo beneficial when it comes to concentrating on your present.
Booster # 03 – Exercise…HARD
Whatever exercise you prefer…it doesn’t matter…just make sure you go for it in a BIG way and get those mood boosting endorphins kicked into high gear – there really is nothing better than stiff, sweat-inducing exercise that you don’t see as a chore but a pleasure…
…and that pleasure will sustain your positive mood throughout the whole day – as well as keep you super-fit, trim and strong.
Booster # 04 – Get Outside and Breathe
Carrying out deep breathing exercises while you’re outside in the fresh air – by the sea, in the mountains, in the bush or even in the quiet hours of a suburban neighbourhood is a great way to boost your positivity.
I live in a small seaside town and the air can be invigorating on a normal day…summer or winter…but what i find especially invigorating is when there’s a strong, cold wind coming from the ocean and i can stand at the waters edge taking deep breaths of that cool damp ocean air as blows over me – for me, there’s nothing better..!
Actually carrying out deep breathing exercises is just a great way to de-stress your mind at any time of the day or night – try it before work or before bed…meditation is just about the best medium for breathing exercise.
Booster # 05 – Be Happy – Smile
You’ve probably heard this before, but it is a fact: You use fewer muscles to smile than you do to frown or look “grumpy”…so why not make it easy on yourself – and everyone else around you, and simply smile whenever you have the opportunity…it ALWAYS has a great effect on you and those who happen to be in your space at that moment.
OK, don’t just wonder around with a permanent grin stuck to your face…damn, that might just be a bit scary for some…be natural, be happy and smile when you know it’ll make a big positivity-boosting difference to everyone concerned.
Booster # 06 – Be a Giver
Don’t hold back on your generosity, be a giving person and you’ll not only reap the rewards later – after all, the natural laws of reciprocity and the laws of attraction are at work with this – but the satisfaction from seeing and feeling the gratitude extended toward you when you selflessly give, is something very special indeed.
Giving up something, anything, from your seat on the bus or a couple of coins to a stranger – or a friend, who needs it more than you paves the way to immortality because that act will always be remembered – but even simpler than that, it just feels plain good..!
A Final Anecdote:
A positive attitude stemming from an “Attitude of Gratitude” etc. is something that i’ve kinda preached over many topics and for many years and if you haven’t tried it, then it’s time you did…you’re going to be amazed at the results you achieve – most especially from those who would at first seem inherently predisposed to negativity in one form or another.
Being of a positive nature yourself inevitably has a positivity-boosting effect over all those that have or will come into contact with you – and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being an inspirational and positive influence over anyone – it’s just a shame there isn’t more of you..!
