There are any numbers of metaphysical doctrines. But we have to stand and realize in what particular manure heap of reality it has grown. All hail to “Shantibhavan”--that abode of peace (here Ma-Mahajnan spent almost the whole of her life) where everyday there are plenty of forth-coming. The good fortunes of the residents who would not lose sight of the cynosure of all eyes are simply unimaginable in that context. So they are the object of envy to others. But while looking for a cause the person who drives or provides the driving impulse will blame himself.
We never felt that Mother was niggardly or partial to anybody. Of course, to understand what is truth mere hunger is not enough; you need intellect along with it. How much of what we get everyday do we realize? If it is not steel, it can not keep an edge. The stronger goes the call within “Truth I must have”, the more there is an influx of intellect in response to hunger. A sound body, a benign intelligence—those rouse that hunger for truth and that again lies at the root of intellect and talent.
We are to remember those words which Mother sang much earlier—“It’s a small tiny temple / here only the message of truth / is distributed as ‘prosad’ (offerings).” Doesn’t this carry a deep import? From the soft cover edition of essential truth to the edition–de-luxe of the same and the entire collection—those occupy a good deal of space in these confines. Its worth can be measured only by the yardstick of a flexible mind.
Can anybody escape a word unnoticed—would he be bold enough to realize it? So many actions are being performed before our eyes. All the while they are moving about. Sometimes they file past; sometimes they march in loose order. But never are they disorderly. We may not accept her varied role in a special sense, but how can we help wondering when we find her constantly busy in the upswings and downswings of every performance?

Shriguru Kanandevi is always performing action. She makes Shyam agree to unload the burden from Ram’s head. Is that an easy job? There are so many stratagem or excuses, but all a true revelations of self. Can we turn away our eyes just by resolving not to look that way? The ultimate truth, though a precious gem to be won by deep inward devotions, is all the time full of restless activity, a successful embodiment of an ideal, something superb.
Can it all be screened from sight--where’s the question of not recognizing it? Here is a remarkable something–the proof strikes the eye; it, as it were, comes alive and moves about. That boy Kala, everybody felt bothered about. Isn’t that bothering quite over? That cry of anguish, that pathetic wailing, those blood-stained face that lacerated body? It was all simply horrible! Again, heart-breaking. What a predicament!
Come, then, let’s find out from facts how the metaphysical doctrine is linked to them. Before the doors are closed, we’ll have to sidle in and find room for ourselves. It would have been quite good if there was some way to express how very annoyed the utterly selfless Ma-Mahajnan Shriguru Kanandevi was to say even these few words that would follow. But the residents have had scope for specially caring and explaining everything in an elaborate way. Only a little practice was required.
The magic mustard seeds with which the ghost is to be driven out are themselves possessed with the ghost. Now if the seeds are crushed, the ghost may roll away with the oil. Then we may begin the good task with those who are fed on the oil-cake. It is good; soon it will take the form of eternal. Here both the story and the title have in view and end in that which is flawlessly beautiful. It is after all a question of flawless reasoning in every direction. By being mother to Kala, with all heart, Ma-Mahajnan proved herself how great she was!
Mournfully, we lost the Universal Mother only a few months ago and feel all the while utterly helpless in the midst of understanding everything in reality along with her immensity. What an impact is ahead centering on her authentic creation!

In brief, Asokananda Prosad, Ma-Mahajnan's first disciple, is an engineer, a philosopher and a philanthropist. Being the missing son—the eldest and the first disciple of Great Ma-Mahajnan, he has had to shoulder so many burdens of Ashram and Temple. Of course, there are few brothers and sisters, very sincere and honest, intelligent and industrious. They help him in every way. He has long been translating Works of Ma-Mahajnan in English which she had written in Bengali. Not just put those in black and white, simply expressed, extempore and spontaneous, in a state of “Conscious Trance” and Asokananda got those tape-recorded.
