Unless life happens to be successful, has this birth any meaning? Where lays our superiority in course of the development of humanity? Now the question arises whether the two—successful life and highest life are distinguishable. Yes, there’s a slight distinction. While talking about the successful life, there shouldn’t be in that any flaw in judgment. Regarding the highest life—it’s in a word flawless judgment. Further there are added to it a flawless mind with a detached and unruffled state of it. These are also added to a successful life but only this is to be said—the mind is a little subdued.” Sitting at the blessed feet, this kind of explication Prosad received.
Truth, that is, deep devotion and realization are inadmissibly bound up with both kinds of life. In quest of that a true cultivation of one’s innate nature is an indispensible chapter—that is time-consuming. There’s need of time for preparation. Side by side with struggle, truth and peace make headway. Knowledge, indeed, introduces the mind to an abode of great bliss. That spiritual quest forgetting all desires is recorded here in a nutshell. Genius, in fact, is basically knowledge—if we accept this, the individual himself will be able to judge about winning success in life or claiming the highest superiority in that
While taking the first step towards success, every individual mind faces up to a conflict involving past and present. Mother says a few words in the context of this aspect. Let that remain as a memory, don’t recall that to mind. Forget your past—“Cast away your past. What a forgiving mind, just see. Let yourself lose yourself—here is sympathy shown to you and your present. Why does the question of sympathy arise here? Well, it will recur to your mind, but don’t recall it.”
Prosad: Say I had been a thief or swindler—Mother, in my past life. When I try to lose or get rid of that, I can’t. I’ll then be in a tight corner. Driven by a nerve-impulse, some day I stole. When I seek to deny that desire, that very same nerve –impulse drives me into a predicament. What shall I lose and where!
Ma-Mahajnan: That’s why that sympathy is left. It will occur to your mind.
Prosad: I cast away something; can that remain as a memory?
Ma-Mahajnan: Where will that go? If I say, don’t remain that as a memory it’ll amount to irrelevant talk. Why should I say that? I’ll only tell the truth. They cannot but be in memory. Further the line you are following, will keep adding to memories.
Cast that away—don’t cling to that and idle away your time. But how can it escape from being turned into memory? Even if that didn’t happen, the very way you’ve come along, would turn that into memory. In the lives of supermen, the days left behind further advance. They are everything. They understand all things. In their contemplation or understanding, nothing is left out. First he comprehends what is his own self.
God keeps watch on your desire. You are asked to cast aside the past life. Then there must have been something bad in your past life. Your nervous system is used to that past life. So it is said, “Lose that or get rid of that.” Now that past will overtake you to your confusion. That is, there will appear in you a certain tone of ineptitude. They’ll seek to muster strong with all their pride and egoism. Full well He knows this. But you don’t think like that. At one time you cast aside something, today you lose something. If you can’t do this, you won’t be able to come up.
You think you’ve stepped into the drain-water. Now I do not touch you once or allow you into my house. Thus your life itself is doomed. But if I say to you, “You have stepped into the drain-water, the worst has come to the worst. Go and wash your feet in the water of the pond. Come in. I’ll sprinkle over you the holy Ganga-water and take you into the house. So I forgive you, isn’t it? But if I cut myself from you at that point, you’re forever gone, eh?”
Well, I forgive you sprinkling the holy water and bring you into the house. After that, say, people start gossiping or would gossip about that drain. You have to stand on the spot and work. You’ll then take that as a blow to your ego. You, of course, remember. That’s that gossip about the drain water. At one time, you were indeed, mixed up with that. Surely you will remember. How can you deny your own nervous system? Well, you remember. Do you then suffer a break-down on remembering that?
Ma-Mahajnan, a matchless spiritual genius, expressed her entire creation in a state of "Conscious Trance” which has all been stuffed with matters of highly philosophical value and related with strong literary sense. She could not attend even Primary School due to extreme poverty. Strangely, she was taught all by herself in the School of Nature. The weird and wonderful life is possibly the souse of her vast experience and profound realization. She was born on 17 July, 1928 and passed away on 22 January, 2011. Listen to what Ma-Mahajnan said once: What I tell you briefly about the early phase. Listen first about my life. I was married off at the age of thirteen. I was the second wife, my husband married for the second time and thus I came into his family. I didn’t get any chance for schooling.” You’ll perhaps weep to hear how I came as a wife, driven by utter poverty or how they packed me off. After that all at once I slowly progressed in the domain of that ‘Nothingness’-- “I’m the Mother; the Nothingness, too.”
